The History of Chinese Christian Church (CCC)

In the 1960’s, there were thousands of Chinese residents and students studying in Australia, but the number of devoted Christians were very few. In Sydney, there was only one Chinese church – the Chinese Presbyterian Church (CPC) in Surry Hills. A group of four Swatow speaking elders from CPC, together with their families, decided to establish an interdenominational church that would unite all Chinese Christians, regardless of their denominational background, traditions and ancient beliefs. With self-support and government, it was hoped that the church would be free of all traditions that hindered progress in the past and with absolute loyalty to Almighty God, and open wide the door of the Gospel to our Chinese compatriots. We shall continue to endeavour to revive the spiritual wellbeing of our brethren in Christ with special emphasis on youth work.
