ENGLISH MINISTRY

Rev Ying Yee

Lead English Pastor

 Ying became a Christian in yr 8 High school in 1972 and started attending CCC the same year. Studied Engineering at UNSW and after finishing felt God’s call to ministry. He studied at Moore College and returned to serve CCC in 1992.

He is married to Ivy with 3 daughters, one of whom is married. He is passionate about starting new ministries and raising up the next generation of leaders. In his spare time he loves his flight simulator and coffee.

Rev Winston Mah

Youth Minister

Rev Winston Mah was originally from Malaysia but was raised in Sydney Australia. He began following Jesus at age 19. He is married to Vicki and they have one son, Caleb. When he’s not playing board games with his family, Winston loves spending time with people over food, pastries and good coffee. He graduated from SMBC with a Bachelor of Theology and was ordained in the Presbyterian Church of Australia. He has a passion to help others find joy and contentment in a life given to serving Jesus and making him known. Winston serves in CCC as the pastor to the youth and young adults.

Pastor Daniel Shih

Children and Young Families Pastor

Pastor Daniel was born and raised in NYC. He became a Christian when his parents took him to a Chinese school at a church. His ministry passions are preaching and biblical counseling. He records a podcast on society and culture through a Christian lens (ingoodfaith.buzzsprout.com). In his free time, he likes to eat pizza and then feel bad and go to the gym. He is married to a wonderful woman, Joanne, and has three beautiful children, Abby, Evan, and Naomi.

MANDARIN MINISTRY

Rev Jeff Wang

Lead Mandarin Pastor

Jeff joined CCC in 2014 as a student pastor and became a full-time pastor in 2016. He became a Christian in Australia. He has a burden on Mandarin-speaking people and has the passion to help people to know Jesus, grow in Christ, love God, and love each other. He is also involved in the Mission Committee of CCC since 2016.

 

 Jeff is married to Rose Cao. Their son Justin is married.

Rev Chris Chua

Rev Chris Chua has been responsible for the Mandarin congregation since it began in 1988. His passion is to study, preach, teach and train the people in God’s word so that they may grow in their faith and their love for God and for one another. As a pastor, he sees his ministry as shepherding the sheep entrusted to his care by Jesus Christ, the Chief Shepherd. Currently, he is establishing a mandarin congregation in ESCCC.

Rev Chris Chua is married to Katherine Chua. They have 1 daughter and two sons. All are married. The daughter has 2 children.

Pastor Caroline Dong

Pastor Caroline Dong grew up in a Christian family and is a fourth generation Christian. She joined CCC in 2013 and studied theology in Sydney.

She became a student pastor in 2018, focusing mainly on Mandarin ministries, and has a burden for young adults.

In particular, she feels a deep burden for the many international students that arrive in Sydney every year because of similar backgrounds. She would like to share the gospel with them and make them feel included in our church family.

CANTONESE MINISTRY

Rev Nathan Chan

Lead Cantonese Minister

Before becoming a pastor, Rev. Nathan Chan was a social worker, mainly counseling young people. He entered the seminary in 1998 and has been serving in the church since graduating in 2001. During this period, he was sent to Macau for four years and was responsible for missionary work and church planting. Rev. Chan most admires Rev. Robert Morrison, the first missionary to China, who devoted his life to the Chinese people.He overcame criticism from others and persisted in God’s will in difficult situations. Rev. Chan and his wife have two sons who are still in school.

Pastor Anita Chan

Anita became a Christian in her Year 8 High School Scripture class. She was an optometrist and joined the CCC Pastoral Team in 2004 as a woman pastor after graduating from Moore Theological College. Her ministry passions are teaching ministry and children’s ministry. She enjoys helping people of all ages to understand God’s word. Currently she is focusing on assisting Nathan in Cantonese Ministry.

She is married to Reggie and they have one son, Jed, and a 3-legged cat, Coco. In her free time, she loves watching movies, hiking, and traveling.

Pastor Thomas Lai

Cantonese Youth Pastor

Pastor Thomas Lai was born and raised in Sydney Australia. Became a Christian in his early 20’s and married with two children. Completed a Bachelor of Theology at George Whitefield College (South Africa)/ Christ College. He is also a Family Therapist who studied at the Family System Institute (FSI) looking into family systems and aiming to be accredited by the Australian Association of Family Therapy (AAFT) in the near future. Currently the Cantonese Youth Pastor for the Chinese Christian Church and have 10 years of pastoral experience. In his free time, he likes going outdoors with the family, playing board games and spending time with people over coffee.

Our Elders

Sammy Liu

Chairman of Board of Elders

Sammy is an actuary who joined CCC when he was married to Peggy in 2005 and attends the Cantonese service with their 3 children. He grew up in a Christian family who migrated from Hong Kong at a young age. He is passionate about growth in the church and want to see more people getting to know Jesus Christ as their personal saviour through the ministries of CCC.  He enjoys good food & coffee, driving & gadgets as well as travelling and spending time with his family.

Edwin Choi

Vice Chair of Board of Elders

Edwin has been a member of CCC since 2004 and first attended English service but now worships at Cantonese service.  He works as a Chief Technology Officer for a software company and is married to Samantha with 2 children.  He first came to know Christ through Christian program during high school.
Edwin’s passion for CCC is that it will be a church where the good news of God is preached so that more people will come to know God, accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.
Edwin enjoys good food and spending time with his family, especially doing walks in and around Sydney.

Frank Lee

Treasurer of Board of Elders

Frank is an IT Professional who started coming to CCC in1979 and attends the English service with his wife Lilian and their 2 children.  He grew up in Australia and became a Christian through University Christian groups and the young adults’ work of CCC.  He is passionate about people meeting Jesus and want to see more people getting to know Jesus Christ as their personal saviour through the ministries of CCC.  He enjoys the outdoors, good food & coffee, learning as well as travelling and spending time with his family.

Mark Herron

Secretary of Board of Elders

Mark is a small business owner who joined CCC in 2002. Born and raised in Sydney, it wasn’t until he joined CCC that he discovered he had the gift to speak Cantonese and quickly settled down at the Cantonese Service. His wife Karen grew up in CCC, and together they have three children.

Mark has an interest in church history, encouraging people to serve and helping those who are less fortunate. He enjoys spending time with his family, being a soccer dad, as well as appreciating world history and Otaku culture.

Jeremy Tham

Member of Board of Elders

Jeremy started coming to CCC with his family when he was 6 years old. He met his wife, Jackie, whilst they were serving in the university aged evening service and they now attend the English service with their three children.
Jeremy has a vision for CCC to be a church that teaches the Bible faithfully and truthfully, so that the members have an authentic relationship with God, and live their lives marked by the Holy Spirit.
Jeremy enjoys workings as a GP, travelling with his family and trying to make his children laugh.

Henry To

Member of Board of Elders

Henry is a migrant from Hong Kong who was baptized in CCC (1988) while attending Cantonese Service. He attends Mandarin Service with his wife Esther while their three children attend English Service. He loves to welcome people into God’s family through reading the Bible and praising God. He especially likes to guide young people to serve the Sovereign Lord. He likes to help members to participate in God’s global mission in the Chinese Christian ministry of CCC.

He is trained as a Fully Qualified Actuary and worked mainly in insurance pricing since the mid 90’s. He enjoys tennis and table tennis with the home family and the church family.

David Chan

Member of Board of Elders

David is a lawyer. He became a Christian in university early 1980s and joined CCC in the late 1980s.

David teaches Sunday School and is a leader of the Cantonese Men’s fellowship, and a member of the Church Planting Committee and Church Maintenance Team.

David has a calling to participate in the sojourner ministry of CCC.

David graduated from the China Graduate School of Theology with a Master of Christian Study (Market Place Theology), and he taught the Church Administration at Macau Bible Institute.

He prays that CCC would be a beacon for the gospel and a relevant member of Lower North Shore, so as to extend the Kingdom of God to people not yet covered.

Jason Foo

Member of Board of Elders

Jason grew up in Malaysia and moved to Australia in 2001 to undertake tertiary education. He and his wife, Jovina joined CCC in 2009 and they attend the English service with their daughter Charlotte. Jason became a follower of Jesus through the Overseas Christian Fellowship and is passionate about cross cultural ministry and has served in the Missions Committee since 2015. Jason feels called by God to mobilise resources within Sydney churches to reach out to the nations.

In his free time, Jason enjoys group training and running to complement his other passion, ‘food’ particularly Asian cuisines. Jason is also a language enthusiast and is fluent in multiple languages and is currently learning Spanish and Portuguese. He also enjoys travelling overseas with his family to immerse in the local culture.
